Many people planning a year-round garden pool ask themselves which in-ground garden pool to choose. In the following article, we will try to dispel your doubts at least a little!

A few words about overflow pools to get you started

Overflow pools are often found by us in Aquaparks, hotels and resorts. Such models are surrounded by the so-called overflow gutters, thanks to which the surface of the water merges with the surface and the environment, thus giving an amazing aesthetic impression, which is undoubtedly their advantage. It is worth noting that the process of their installation is more complicated and expensive than in the case of skimmer pools.

At the same time, their advantage is that it is much easier to keep them clean. An important visual difference is undoubtedly the issue of the water level in relation to the edges. The water surface in the case of skimmer models is significantly lowered. What’s more, they require regular maintenance – the overflow gutter, which transports dirt to the expansion tank and the filtering system, needs to be cleaned. Only by cleaning the gutters consistently will the water in the tank be clean and usable.

What about skimmer pools?

Skimmer pools are more popular, they can usually be found in home gardens. They do not require the installation of an additional tank, which makes them easier to operate. They are equipped with the so-called skimmers, i.e. special drain holes, which are located in the upper part of the tank. They are responsible for catching pollutants pushed towards them. This is possible thanks to a circulation pump that ensures continuous circulation and filtration of water.

A skimmer pool is a closed circuit in which a circulation pump transfers contaminants to the skimmer and from there to an extensive filtration system. Its operation ensures that the water in the tank is immaculately clean even during intensive use.

What should you remember?

An overflow pool has better circulation than a model with skimmers – in this case, it is less closer to the bottom, which may be important for some customers. In addition, due to the fact that the water level in them is 10 – 15 cm below the edge, unsightly deposits may appear in the narrow space between the surface and the edge, which requires regular cleaning. It’s an extra effort to keep in mind if you opt for this model. The lack of evenness between the surface and the edge may not be to the liking of people who care about the aesthetic experience.

Importantly, the technology is still developing rapidly, thanks to which the visible difference between swimming pools is blurred. Each of them is a place where you can:

  • relax after a long day at work,
  • play with the children,
  • regenerate on holiday, both alone and surrounded by other holidaymakers.

Of course, we leave it up to you to decide which year-round model – overflow or skimmer – to choose. If you want to know more details, please contact us. We, as a manufacturer, will help you make your choice.
